Gait Field Glove

Key Features

Construction Padded
Grip Technology Regular
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Good
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White | Black
Cord Loop Yes
Customization Not Available

The Gait Field glove is an all-purpose lacrosse glove for field players. It was released in 2021 specifically for male players, and according to statistical data, it is the top choice among professional players.

To find out its endurance and comfort, I put it on and went to the field. As soon as I wore it, I noticed the floating pads that enhanced my range of motion. These pads are covered with hard plastic. They moved independently from the main structure of the glove at impact zones, especially at the back of my hand.

The glove grip was impressively tacky, allowing me to maintain a strong hold on my stick without restricting the movement of my hand and wrist. It felt both soft and sturdy to endure checks without needing to grip the stick tightly.

The floating pads on the thumb provided extra stability, control, grip, and balance. This made it easy for me to exert pressure without feeling any discomfort.

The three-piece cuff design worked like a charm here. My wrist was properly padded on both sides and the front as well. However, I did find the wrist pads to be slightly on the smaller side. A couple of centimeters more in length would have been ideal.

One of the best features for me was the strategic placement of ventilation holes on the grip side. They were positioned exactly where sweat tends to accumulate during gameplay. These gloves kept my hands cool and dry.

The presence of an adjustable closure along with the cord loop made it more stable.

Despite having large hands, I did not experience any restriction in movement or the need to opt for an Extra Large size. The Gait Field Gloves reminded me of the Under Armour Command Pro gloves, but I found the Gait glove to be more comfortable and durable in the long run.

While the Gait Field glove is suitable for all field players, I believe defenders, in particular, will appreciate the hard-plastic impact zones for checks and faceoffs. Personally, I loved this glove for its flexibility, comfort, and unrestricted wrist movement.

TRUE Zerolyte ZL2 Lacrosse Gloves

Key Features

Construction Padded
Grip Technology Ax Suede Quattro
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Good
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White
Cord Loop Yes
Customization Not Available

The TRUE Zerolytye ZL2 is the upgraded version of the previous Zerolyte glove, and it was released in 2022 for male field players. These gloves are known for providing unmatched protection with their premium quality padding.

I liked the compartmental pad breaks, especially at the thumb and wrist impact zones. Unlike many lacrosse gloves that typically feature 2-3 pad breaks on the thumb, the Zerolyte ZL2 has 8 pad breaks in total, with over 25 breaks overall.  I had good mobility and range of motion while playing. It felt like a second skin to me.

Loaded with features like TRUE Temper’s Orbit Cuff. X-Tec, and Ax Suede, I feel this glove is a complete gear for any lacrosse player.

The TRUE Temper’s Orbit Cuff offered me good wrist mobility. I tried wrist circles, flexion, extension, and side-to-side movements, and at no point did I feel any restriction. Whereas the inclusion of an internal wrist cuff added to the comfort.

The X-Tec not only offered good protection but also performance and comfort. I did not feel any rattle and wobble. The Ax Suede brought a unique palm feel. Further, it improved the grip. The glove also features a cord loop to adjust the closure system.

However, one area of improvement I noticed was the ventilation. The glove only has ventilation holes on the fingers, which can lead to sweat accumulation in the palm area, especially during summer play. This is something to consider when choosing gear for warmer weather conditions.

Maverik Men's M6 Lacrosse Glove

Key Features

Construction Padded
Grip Technology Suede
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Good
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White | Grey | Black
Cord Loop No
Customization Not Available

The Maverik M6 Lacrosse glove, part of the ongoing ‘M Series,' was released in 2023 and is made for male field players, particularly those in midfield and attack positions.

Having previously used the Maverik M5, I can confidently say that the M6 gloves offer improved performance and comfort. The addition of features like DuraStretch material, Connect Palm, and FlowCool ventilation are what I was looking for in a lacrosse glove.

The DuraStretch pad panel material significantly enhances flexibility, mobility, and durability. I tested it with my usual wrist exercises involving flexion and extension, and it performed excellently without restricting my movements. Further, it effectively protected the impact zones of my hands.

While the Maverik M6 gloves maintain a traditional fit, the added volume in the fingers and back of the hand notably improves comfort by 30%, as claimed by the Maverik team.

The Connect Palm feature has a notably improved grip feel. The suede texture, with its slightly rough and velvety surface, creates ample friction to improve grip strength.

One of my favorite features is the Quick Dry FlowCool ventilation system. The strategically placed ventilation holes on the fingers and palms prevent sweat accumulation. Despite suede typically being associated with cold weather grip, the ventilation design makes a significant difference.

I also liked the adjustable closure system. I had the option to either make it a close fit to have a better grip or leave it like a flare to have more independence in movements. Both have their application benefits. I like the close fit more.

The Maverik M6 glove is an excellent choice for players looking for a balance of grip, flexibility, and impact zone protection.

Warrior Nemesis QS Glove

Key Features

Pocket Location Mid-High
Grip Technology Pro Palm+
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Good
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White
Cord Loop No
Customization Not Available

The Warrior Nemesis QS glove, also known as the quick-save glove, stands out as one of the top goalie gloves with its impressive array of over 30 synthetic leather padded compartments.  Released in 2020, these gloves are perfect for shot-stopper and positional male goalies.

Unlike field gloves, goalie gloves primarily function to offer superior protection and coverage for goalkeepers. The Warrior Nemesis QS glove has a larger profile. I liked the protection of impact zones, especially with the New Lock Thumb+ feature. The premium hard padding on the entire thumb effectively shields it from harsh impacts.

Not only the protection, I think the feel and flexibility of the Nemesis QS is also great. The 30+ padded compartments allowed me to move my fingers freely without feeling restricted.

One feature that impressed me was the knuckle padding for shock absorption, but what stood out even more was how well they protected the little (pinky) finger and the index finger with the inside padding. I could easily put my hands in front without having to worry about any sort of injuries.

It also features Warrior’s proprietary Authentic Pro Palm+ grip technology that brings the feel right up to the mark of protection.  Despite its larger size, the open elastic cuff ensured that I did not face any issues with my wrist mobility.

However, my only critique is that the number of ventilation holes is relatively low. They should have added some holes in the palm area so that the sweat does not accumulate. Having said that, I feel that the Warrior Nemesis is that glove that gives you the confidence to make saves, block shots, and control rebounds without the risk of injury.

STX Surgeon RZR 2 Lacrosse Glove

Construction Padded
Grip Technology Suede
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Excellent
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White | Black | White, Black | Caroline | Navy | Red | Royal | Red, White, and Blue
Cord Loop No

The STX Surgeon RZR 2 lacrosse glove features an impressive set of 48 Superflex Plus padded blocks that offer exceptional flexibility and comfort. Released in 2023, it holds the title of being the lightest elite-level lacrosse glove designed specifically for male field players.

My personal experience with the STX Surgeon RZR 2 was nothing short of amazing. The increased flex and grip feel were immediately noticeable. I liked how the Superflex Plus ensured that the glove stretches exactly where the stretch points are.

Further, the stitchless design on the top gave the glove a sleek and appealing aesthetic that I absolutely loved.

The Taper Fit of the STX Surgeon RZR 2 provided a contoured fit around my fingers, significantly improving my grip feel. The C3 Cuff feature allowed me to customize how I wore the glove by easily adjusting the velcro straps for a perfect fit that allowed my wrist to move freely.

Most of the manufacturers do not offer customization. However, STX offers to customize and add your number on the left wrist pad to make it uniquely yours. I like this option as it brings a personality to your gear.

The palm's interior is divided into two suede sections, with one covering the entire glove and the white stitched area around the palm offering supplementary grip and tackiness. This ensured my secure hold on the stick.

While I expected more ventilation holes on the palm and not just on the fingers, the on-field performance of the STX Surgeon RZR 2 justifies the investment. The ample padded blocks not only protect impact zones but also make checking and ground ball pickups more comfortable and efficient.

I liked the performance and aesthetics of this glove more than the others. For me, this is one of the best lacrosse gloves out there right now.

Warrior Burn XP2 Lacrosse Gloves

Key Features

Construction Padded
Grip Technology Pro Palm+
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Good
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White
Cord Loop No
Customization Not Available

The Warrior Burn XP2 lacrosse gloves are a blend of minimalist design and high functionality. Released in 2023, these LoPro (low-profile) gloves are ideal for male field players who prefer lightweight gear with added protection at impact zones.

What impressed me most about the Warrior Burn XP2 gloves is the slim Impax LT compression molded foam padding. Unlike bulky padding that sacrifices mobility, these gloves offered me a good combination of protection and flexibility. The padding looks sleek and performs exceptionally well.

The application of Warrior’s Authentic Pro Palm+ grip technology was another highlight for me. It provided a superior feel and performance. The spandex gussets in the grip section, combined with heavy-duty suede. It offered me a secure and comfortable grip.

While the gloves do not feature palm ventilation holes, the inclusion of TruVent ™ on the fingers helps manage sweat accumulation. Although some sweat may accumulate in the palm area, it is negligible compared to gloves without any ventilation on the palms.

On the field, the Warrior Burn XP2 gloves delivered excellent performance. The stick remained secure without moving even a centimeter during checks and ground balls. The grip remained tacky even in humid conditions.

The best thing that I felt in these Warrior Burn XP2 lacrosse gloves is the TotalFLX+ blooming cuff. The TotalFLX+ has eliminated the need for cord loops and other adjustable closure systems and brought it to a minimum and easy closure system where I could move my wrists freely.

Nike Vapor Premier Limited Edition Lacrosse Glove

Key Features

Construction Padded
Grip Technology Suede and Breathable Mesh
Overall Feel (Flexibility and Comfort) Good
Ventilation Yes
Impact Protection Yes
Colors White, Black | White, Grey | White, Navy | White, Red | White, Royal
Cord Loop No
Customization Available

Nike's release of the Vapor Premier Limited Edition lacrosse glove in 2023 was a direct response to the incredible success of the original Vapor Premier model made for male field players.

The Nike Vapor Premier limited edition has over 30 articulated paddings strategically placed to protect players' impact zones. As someone who has used the original Vapor Premier, I can confirm that the limited edition maintains similar features, with the main difference being the color schemes.

One aspect I liked was the well-designed padding breaks on the stretch areas. Despite its lightweight construction, the glove does not compromise on grip or range of motion. I could freely bend my fingers and rotate my wrist without any hindrance.

The use of Nike's proprietary DriFit technology in the Vapor Premier Limited Edition ensures quick evaporation of sweat.  While playing in humid conditions, the sweat quickly evaporated without accumulating in my palm area. Part of it is due to the usage of high-quality mesh material in the palm.

The glove has an extra bit of padding on the outer side of the palm for defenders to absorb shocks while throwing punishing checks. The comfort level of these gloves is on par, and they are relatively easy to break in.

The game performance was right up to the mark. The grip remained tacky and secure. I did not feel my stick to be sliding out of my hand.

I feel that the best feature of the limited edition is the option for customization. This allows players to personalize their gloves with their numbers, surely it adds a unique touch to the gear.

All in all, if you are a Nike fan like me, this can be a good glove that offers the aesthetics and performance on the field.
